Baggage Claim with Susie

Hello - Susie here today creating a layout that combines Baggage Claim with the Dusty Road Collection.
I also wanted to point out a design principle I often use to balance my layouts. To start with though I have to say I really love the bicycle themed paper in the Baggage Claim collection and decided to use it to create a layout about me for a change!

The first step was to die cut and emboss the paper, then sand the edges to reveal the white core before adhering it to a sheet of paper from the Dusty Road collections. Next I layered on the photos and created this little embellishment cluster - this red became the perfect accent color against all the blue tones in the layout.

I used the Blue Moon PowderPuff Chalking Ink to stamp onto 2 different colors of cardstock.  I heat embossed using clear embossing powder then stacked them together before adding sticker and chipboard embellishments.

The bicycle chipboard is from the Baggage Claim collection, but the words are from the Dusty Road Sticker sheet.

I must admit to being a bit of a washi collector so I was thrilled to use 3 or 4 different tapes on this layout.
Designer's Tip:
When I am done with a layout and something seems "off", the first thing I do is check for a visual triangle. One of the easiest ways to define a visual triangle is with color, as I did on this page.

You can see above where I pulled the red from the chipboard on the top right of the layout and added the bits of red washi tape on the left side and bottom of the layout.  It made a huge difference!
