TRENDY TUESDAYS
Today I'll be showing you how to use die cuts as templates for sewing. First I cut my leaves with my SpellBinders Grand Calibur. The leaves were made from papers in Quick Quotes Cherry Truffle collection.
*This technique will work with any kinds of die cuts. I have used a flower die cut as a template and then just stitched the flower. I didn’t use the die cut at all on the project. I hope you enjoyed this and give this fun technique a try.
These Spellbinders leaf dies are just perfect because they are nestled together. I placed the second largest leaf on the larger leaf and then used a paper piercer to make the holes to hand stitch. I used the middle leaf as a guide for where to punch the holes. In the picture below I turned the hounds tooth leaf over so you could see the pierced holes.
Next hand-stitch the holes as seen below. I used twine for my stitching.
Ink the edges of the leaves. Adhere the nestled leafs together and adhere to the library card pocket. I used pop dots on the largest and smallest leaf for some depth.
