Hello and welcome! Susie hosting the blog today and I am sharing a Christmas tree ornament I created using the December Ultimate Combo Club Q Kit!
The first thing that caught my eye when I opened the kit was a paper mache box that is shaped like a Christmas tree. There are instructions that show you how to turn it into a lovely gift box, but I decided to go a different direction. I started by inking the edges of the matching die cut paper with Seafoam PowderPuff Chalking Ink.
I wanted to include a photo in my ornament, so I roughed up the edges with a sanding block and applied more of the Seafoam Ink.
I actually set the box aside and just worked with the lid, applying a little adhesive and adding the striped die cut tree. I flipped the photo over and added some cardboard to the back so that it would "pop" off of the background and adhered it in the center of the ornament. I chose one of the sentiments that came in the kit and cut it apart.
I applied Clay PowderPuff Chalk Ink to the edges of the sentiment and then I added bits of cardboard to the back of each of the word strips for strength and stability. I love dimension so the word strips were adhered with 3D Zots and "jumbled" around my central image.
I culled through the other supplies and found really cute wooden buttons with a design already imprinted around the edge. I also found mother of pearl adhesive rhinestone strips and a length of tan ribbon with stitched detailing. I used double sided tape all along the outside edge of the box top and then applied the ribbon, leaving enough on the top to create a hanging loop.
I found these 2 little brush trees in my stash and decided to use them to add even more dimension. The finishing touch was a strip of the mother of pearl rhinestones across the bottom - kind of like a dusting of snow!

Pin It Now!
I tied some twine through the button and adhered it at the top.
Here's another look at the finished ornament.
I will be back a little later this month to share more projects I created from this jam-packed December Club Q kit!
