Hello and welcome! Susie hosting the blog today with a layout featuring the new Windsong Collection and PowderPuff Chalking Inks.
The soft colors in the Windsong Collection are a great counterpoint to the strong metallic steampunk gears I used on the page: a perfect combination for a layout about my sister, the pilot.
I stamped my focal image with permanent black ink onto a peach colored paper from the collection, 100.
I used a watercolor technique to paint the image with Mahogany, Milk Chocolate, Biscotti, Aqua, Seabrook and Terra Cotta. I simply pressed the inks onto my craft mat and spritzed a little water nearby.
I picked up a tiny bit of water with the paintbrush and then added a little bit of the ink, varying the concentration to vary the color. Just remember that this is not watercolor paper so you do not want to use a lot of water or the paper will pill and peel. A little bit goes a long way!
The chipboard gears in the corner were first painted with metallic gold acrylic paint and then rubbed with 2 different metallic waxes. I added a few Shiny Chrome Drops as accents.
There is a great set of cut apart sentiments in the Windsong Collection. There was one strip that caught my eye. It is a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that reads "Each moment of the year has its own beauty."
I actually edited it to remove "of the year" and split the strip to position it in 2 different places on the page. The first part of the quote sits on the top left of the page, in front of 2 tags I cut from 101.
The second part sits on the bottom of the photo. Below it you can see that I fussy cut a zig zag border by following the pattern on 105.

When I was done I trimmed out the image, cut a cardboard support to adhere to the back...
...and positioned her on the layout.

I added another little sentiment strip in the bottom right along with some tiny gears.
