Greetings, it's Karan here today to host the blog for you.
Some of you may know that my hubby was raised Amish and it wasn't until he started school that his parents decided to switch over to Mennonite.
Hubby was five and his only language was German when he started school He had a tough time trying to understand English and his parents felt it was difficult for him to learn. With that being said, it was very seldom to have any pictures of ancestors. We do have this photo of hubby's Grandfather ( who is on the right in the photo) and Great Uncle's Joe and Emanuel at a family gathering.
I really wanted to scrapbook this photo (and there are a few more I want to do as well) and I tried to keep it simple with a layered heritage look.

The bottom border is from a left over kit from Quick Quotes and I am happy with the way it turned out.
Here are some detail shots:

Heartfelt Crestions dies (Vintage floret and bella rose) are some of my favorites to play with on my projects.

I still have a few scraps left in my 6x6 Cracklin' Rose Paper pack and it works perfectly for layering with a smaller photo(s) such as this one.
I created an interactive element on this page, the photo and all the details are all attached to a piece of vellum (5x7) and then attached to a larger photo mat with brads, allowing the mat to be flipped up to add journaling about the photo at a later date.
Here is a quick video on how you can do that too:
