Techniques with Karan!

Happy Sunday Scrappers!  Karan with you on this beautiful Sunday!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!  I am happy to share with you a layout based on one of Quick Quotes feature products and Barb's grid challenge.  I used the Copper Kettle line to complete my project for you today.

I have been itching to get QQ chalk inks on some unbleached canvas and see how the effects would come out.  Well, i have to say, it went fabulous.

I cut 7"x1.5' inch strips of unbleachead canvas, grabbed some chalk inks and brushed over the canvas.  I then took a spray bottle and sprayed the ink to move the colour.  Damped off the excess and  heat set to dry.  Once dry, i found i needed to add more chalk ink to add some depth to the colour, so i repeated the steps, but i so love how it turned out.

I weeved the canvas strips then sewed them onto the background with my sewing machine.  I also had the Big Things Colour Vellum overlay, I thought would work well for journaling.  So, I cut the words apart and adhered for my journaling.  (Great use for the vellum quotes!!!)

I took a chipboard heart from my stash and used it as a template to cut out a canvas heart.  I used the same technique on the heart as I did above by using Maraschino Cherry

I had Copper Kettle 500 and cut off the square journaling tags on the bottom and used them as my photo mats.  I thought they would blend in perfectly.  I also sewed around the Copper Kettle 200 about 1/4" away from the edge.  Sewing always adds a beautiful touch to any crafty project.
