Painting Using Chalk Inks!

March Featured Product:  Chipboard Laser Die Cuts
Today's project features the Birds Bag o' Chips!

---------

Thursday greetings to our Quick Quotes friends!  Rhonda here today to show you a fun painting technique that I did with the Birds Bag o' Chip chipboard.

I created this layout using the new Tin Type collection (love this line!!!).  I also really love the elegant feel of the branch and the birds in the Chipboard Laser Die Cuts, so I decided to use them here too.
'Painting' with PowderPuff Chalk Inks:
  • For this process you will need a craft mat, mister, Powder Puff Chalk Inks, paper towel, brushes and a small amount of water in a cup.
  • Using my craft mat, I pressed my PowderPuff Chalk Ink in Green Envy and Biscotti down in 2 adjacent places.
  • Mist a small amount of water (I used one squirt of my mini-mister) to create your "paint".
  • Using your brush, pick up the amount of color that you want to use, you can also pick up more of the alternate color to blend them nicely in a separate area of your mat and then apply to the chipboard.
  • Do you see the effect on my branch?  The colors blend into one another so softly, I love this effect!
  • Hint:  Use a very small amount of water to make the inks a bit workable, you don't want to get your chipboard soaking wet.
  • I loved the branch so much, I decided to paint my bird as well and added some Baja Blue and Lemonade onto my craft mat.
  • For the birds feet and beak I rinsed my brush, wiped it semi-dry on the Biscotti and gave those areas a few coats.
  • Once your painting is completed, set aside to dry for a bit.
  • I wanted my bird to have a little bit of texture and added a coat of Modge Podge with glitter to it.
  • The glitter does disguise the detail of the paint technique.
I hope you give this technique a try, it's really fun!
