POLL: Your Creative Journey!

Sunday Greetings to you from Rhonda!

I'm always curious how others are inspired in their creative journey!!! I want to ask for our POLL today, when you scrapbook do you:

  • Choose your photos first, then your papers?

  • Are you inspired by a beautiful line of papers/embellishments, and then find photos to work with?

  • Mixed bag, anything goes depending on the mood!
I always seem to seek my inspiration from my photos first. I tend to have some of my favorite photos in a special stack that are my inspiration.

Thanks for sharing a little of yourself with us! We really enjoy hearing from you! Have a wonderful weekend whatever you're up to!

I work with both my photos first and also with the paper collections. Sometimes, I just have to have a paper collection because it is so awesome! and then I find the photos to coordinate. Other times I really want to create a layout with a particular photo and will search for the perfect paper to use. It helps that I don't scrapbook my photos in chronological order so I can wait.

I would say I am a mixed bag...sometimes I want to get certain photos scrapped right away so I let them inspire my paper choice...other days I really want to use a line of paper so I go searching for the right photos to fit that paper.

It's a mixed bag for me! Sometimes its the photo that inspires the lo, other times its the papers!

Mixed bag for me too. I used to always just start with the pictures but now I also start with paper I adore and I can always find pictures to go with it. I don't always want my granddaughters pics on conventional pink bunny paper, things like that.

For me, it is a mixed bag, also! I have been known to take photos that I know will work with certain paper lines or subject matters. Other times, I allow the photo to choose the paper! One of my favorite things about most of the QQ paper lines is that they are so versatile, they can be used with almost anything!

Marcia, L.B., Denay, Suzanne and Julia,
I totally agree with you all ladies! I'm a mixed bag most of the time too. It's fun to hear how others are inspired to choose the papers, or let the papers or embellies choose us!!!

Julia, I too have been guilty of taking certain types of photos for a specific line, but that's ok too! Quick Quotes lines have such a timeless feel to their style, they really are fun and versatile to work with aren't they?!

One of my other favorite tricks is to keep several photos in black and white or sepia so they go with anything. ; )

Thanks so much for sharing ladies!

If I am doing pages just for me I work from my photos. However, most of the time lately, I'm doing pages for my LSS that require me to work from the papers. This is much more challenging for me.

Terri, that sounds like a fun challenge to have!!!

I've done both...I think it just depends on my mood!

I have to go along with the majority and say that I am also a mixed bag. I have taken my inspiration from photos and from the papers I want to use. When I am doing work for design teams, many times it's the paper that dictates the layout because I am working with a specific theme most of the time. Otherwise, I try to match paper to photos. because I seem to get the best results that way. It's fun either way though. I'm glad you asked, Rhonda, because it is interesting to hear what others do.

Okay, so I may be somewhat of an oddball but, I really enjoy finding an amazing line of paper or a piece of paper and then I create my masterpiece. I can always find a photo for pretty much any line since I take so many photos.

I have done both. That is why I have lots and lots of paper. I am still looking for paper for a picture I made into a black and white about 5 years ago. So, I keep looking for the right paper and page design that will express what this picture means to me.

I have lots of paper that I buy thinking that it may work well for a certain event. However, it's all about the pix. If the paper doesn't work with them, I find something else.

I pick my papers according to my photos. Fun active or children's pictures need bright happy paper. Heritage pages need rich colors and designs. Romantic pictures need cozy colored paper. I also pick papers that have colors from the pictures.
